Every year the MWCABC Outreach Program is proud to partner with community providers to offer various wellness programs free of charge to its recipients facing a breast cancer diagnosis. The 2024 grants awarded to our partners in support of breast cancer recovery and survivorship are as follows: 

Programs that run January to December:

Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program
✿ Provides transportation and food to needy clients to insure patient compliance with medical treatment.

CancerCare Breast Cancer Services of Long Island
✿ Individual Counseling and Live and Online Support Groups Services
Services are provided to assist individuals affected by breast cancer to cope with and manage the emotional and practical challenges presented by a breast cancer diagnosis, find reliable sources of information about their diagnosis and learn ways to better express their needs to their healthcare team.

Northwell Health
✿ Integrative Therapies at Monter Cancer Center
Provided to patients receiving chemotherapy, helps to lessen the pain of peripheral neuropathies, lower blood pressure, combat depression and reduce anxiety and fatigue.

Breast Cancer Navigation and the Survivorship Program  
A program designed to deliver comprehensive care to breast cancer patients from diagnosis through post treatment survivorship.

Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (JCC)
Support/Exercise Group
For women with breast and other gynecological cancers, exercise is an effective intervention to improve quality of life and cardiorespiratory fitness.

Programs that run either once a year or several times a year:

Berest Dance Center

✿ Ballet For Recuperation
Improves Neuropathy symptoms. 
Dates: March 10, 17 & 24 at 9:30 am and March 30th on Zoom at 9:30 am

Lean on Me Breast Cancer Network, Inc.
✿ Serenity Wellness Retreat Day
A day designed to introduce women to unique coping strategies they might not have previously used

Northwell Health
✿ Palliative Care Outreach Program
Funding towards a travel grant to attend an in-person national palliative care conference scheduled to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, that will advance the professional development of staff and enhance the care of their patients.
Date: March 20-23, 2024

Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (JCC)
✿ Relax, Renew & Restore Retreat
A retreat designed to give breast/gynecologic cancer survivors and their caregivers a "vacation from cancer", even if it's for a brief few hours.
Date: TBD

Strength for Life
✿ Strength for Life Weekend Wellness Retreat
A retreat designed to help cancer patients and survivors improve their daily functional activities, quality of life & self esteem.
Dates: August 17th - 18th & December 14th - 15th

The Cancer Institute at St. Francis Hospital
✿ The Picture of Health - Art Therapy Program for Cancer Patients and Caregivers
Helps to decrease anxiety, promote relaxation and express emotions.
Dates: TBD

✿ Journaling Club - A Program for Cancer Patients and Caregivers
Group and individual sessions to explore themes related to resilience, healing & restorative experiences.
Dates: TBD

✿ Gardening Club - A Program for Cancer Patients and Caregivers
Exploring the curative benefits of nature with both on site and take home gardening activities for their patients.
Dates: TBD

Nutrition and Cooking Programs
Cooking is therapeutic and a great way for patients and caregivers to gain a sense of control during an unsettled time.
